About Avocado Toast
To be honest, in my family, it is only me who loves avocado toast. I can eat it for breakfast, brunch, or even for lunch and dinner. So for me, it is not a spring or summer recipe, but I can have it any time of the year. Making avocado toast is super quick and hardly takes five minutes. It is creamy, full of flavors, healthy, comforting, and nutritious. The most amazing part is that we can add as many flavors as we prefer. In addition, there are endless options for the toppings. I have toasted homemade whole wheat bread for this recipe. However, you can use any bread slices of your choice. Also, feel free to take this recipe as a base and swap the flavors and toppings to your likings. I have also mentioned the variations in the post; please continue reading.
Ingredients
How To Make Avocado Toast
Toast the bread slices until firm and golden brown. Set them aside. I like my bread very crispy for avocado toast, and you can also toast it as you prefer. I have used whole wheat bread for this recipe, but other bread like multigrain or rye bread will also work perfect.
Remove the pit from the avocado. Scoop out the flesh of avocado with a spoon and place in a bowl.
Add salt, freshly ground black pepper, and lemon juice. If you like some heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
Mash the avocado using a fork until it is smooth and everything is well combined. Then taste the avocado spread and adjust the seasonings if needed. Instead of a smooth consistency, you can also mash the avocado with little chunks if you like that way.
Spread the mashed and seasoned avocado on top of your bread toasts.
Sprinkle some red pepper flakes and finely chopped coriander leaves. Or top the avocado toast with the toppings of your choice. Keep reading for the variation suggestions. Serve Avocado Toast Immediately.
Avocado Toast Variations
Place some freshly made tomato salsa on the top of avocado toast. And enjoy flavorful salsa and creamy avocado in each bite. Top the avocado toast with tomato slices or cherry tomatoes and roughly chopped fresh basil leaves. Drizzle some olive oil and enjoy! Sprinkle some toasted white and black sesame seeds. You can also sprinkle some toasted pumpkin or sunflower seeds if you prefer. Keep the mashed avocado with little chunks instead of smooth consistency if you like. Top the toast with freshly cut jalapeno rings or pickled jalapeno. Drizzle some pesto or spicy coriander chutney for the extra flavors. To make the avocado toast spicy, drizzle the hot sauce of your choice or sprinkle some cayenne pepper on the top. Instead of coriander leaves, garnish with some freshly chopped parsley leaves. You can also add dried herbs like oregano, basil, and parsley.
Helpful Tips
Choosing good bread and perfectly ripe avocado are the keys to the best avocado toast. Keep the mashed avocado to a smooth consistency or with some chunks, as you prefer. Toast the bread until it is firm and golden brown so it can hold the mashed avocado well. Instead of red pepper flakes, you can also sprinkle some cayenne pepper or hot paprika.
