About Mango Milkshake

Mango is in the first place in my favorite fruit list. Sadly, it comes during a specific season and short time. One of the things that I miss terribly in Canada is Indian mangoes; Alphonso and Kesar varieties are my favorite.  We have Indian mangoes available here for a brief period of time. But they are infrequent, super expensive, and we need to keep an eye before they vanish. However, we have Mexican mangoes available most of the time. And now, we have developed our taste and love for these mangoes as well.  While we can enjoy mango as it is, there are several other popular ways to consume it. In India, Aamras (mango pulp) is almost a must on the lunch menu. People enjoy it with Roti or Puri (fried Indian flatbread) on hot afternoons.  And in the evening, after a light dinner, my mom often used to make mango milkshake as a dessert. And I also often use mangoes for milkshakes and smoothies. Believe me, this mango milkshake is pure bliss.

Ingredients

How To Make Mango Milkshake

Rinse, peel and chop the mangos.Add chopped mangoes, milk, sugar, and ice in a blender jar.

Blend until everything is combined and the consistency is smooth. After blending, taste the milkshake and add more sugar if needed.

Pour the chilled mango milkshake into glasses and serve.

Thicker or Thinner Consistency

For a very thick consistency, add only a cup of milk or do not add ice. After blending, if you find your milkshake very thick, add more milk for the thinner consistency.Or replace ¼ to ½ cup of milk with heavy cream for a thicker and creamy consistency. For an extra thick mango milkshake, add a couple of scoop of vanilla or mango ice cream.

Topping Suggestions

Top the milkshake with chopped nuts. I have garnished it with chopped pistachio. You can also add a dollop of whipped cream. For the dessert treat, add a scoop of vanilla or mango ice cream into the serving glasses. To make the milkshake extra chilled, add ice into the serving glasses and then pour the milkshake.

Variations

Instead of sugar, add natural sweeteners like honey, agave, or coconut sugar. For the very rich and creamy mango milkshake, replace ¼ to ½ cup of milk with cream. To serve this milkshake as a dessert, add vanilla or mango ice cream with other ingredients to the blender. You can add a scoop of real vanilla or mango ice cream.

Make It Vegan

For vegan mango milkshake, use non-dairy milk. My personal favorite is cashew milk, but you can also add almond milk or coconut milk.
