What was your favorite popsicle flavor when you were a kid? Mine was always orange, a tangy and refreshing flavor on hot summer days. So this Orange Creamsicle Smoothie is all about going back to those fun childhood days!

About Orange Creamsicle Smoothie

When I was in India, we often used to go to have fresh fruit juices or sugar cane juice because of the heat. And when it comes to fresh juices, my first preference was always orange juice. It gives instant cooling and energy. And now my son loves orange juice, so I often use fresh oranges for a juice or smoothie. So I am sharing another orange smoothie recipe that I have adapted from my other smoothie recipe, Orange Coconut Smoothie (Creamy and Dairy Free). In the orange creamsicle smoothie, I have added an extra element, vanilla yogurt, for the creamy texture. It also makes the smoothie healthier and protein-packed. This smoothie is our family favorite, and I often make it on hot days. It is sugar-free, made with freshly squeezed orange juice, and highly customizable. Consistency: This smoothie is creamy, frothy, and yet very light! This drink is between smoothie and juice, more delicate and lighter than a smoothie and foamier and creamier than juice. The Flavor: Orange Creamsicle Smoothie has a vibrant taste and flavors of orange and vanilla. At the same time, yogurt provides a tanginess, and coconut flavor makes it a perfect tropical drink. Straightforward: The recipe is easy and comes together in minutes. Yes, the squeezing of fresh orange juice might take a little longer, but it is totally worth spending that extra time.

Ingredients

How To Make Orange Creamsicle Smoothie

Squeeze the orange juice.

Add vanilla yogurt, coconut milk, orange juice, sweetener, and ice cubes into the blender. If using plain yogurt instead of vanilla yogurt, add a teaspoon of vanilla extract.

Blend until everything is well combined and frothy. Do not over blend.

Pour into serving glasses and serve chilled.

Helpful Tips

Oranges: Use freshly squeezed orange juice for the best taste. Instead of juice, you can add peeled oranges into the blender. If using peeled oranges, add two medium or one large orange. Coconut Milk: Use chilled coconut milk for the best results. Instead of coconut milk, coconut cream can also be used for a thicker and creamier smoothie. Yogurt: Use chilled yogurt and instead of vanilla yogurt, add plain yogurt and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Add one frozen banana for a thick and creamy smoothie if you do not like yogurt in your smoothie. Sweetener: I have added maple syrup, but any sweetener of choice can work for this smoothie. Ice: It is essential to add crushed ice or ice cubes for the frothy and thick smoothie. Instead of ice, you can freeze coconut milk in the ice tray and use coconut ice cubes for the smoothie.

What To Do With Leftover Smoothie?

If you have a leftover smoothie, place it in the fridge for a day. The leftover smoothie will lose its frothiness, and coconut milk will settle down at the bottom. So before serving, blend it again with some ice, and the smoothie will be foamy again. However, it is best served immediately after making.

Can I Use Other Non-Dairy Milk?

You can use almond milk or cashew milk instead of coconut milk. However, the smoothie will not be as creamy as it is with coconut milk.

Do I Have To Use Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice?

That is what I will recommend. But instead of fresh orange juice, you can also use peeled oranges. If using peeled oranges, add two medium or one large orange into the blender instead of juice. However, using peeled oranges will make the smoothie pulpy.

Can I Add More Fruits?

Yes! Add more tropical fruits like pineapple, banana, or mangos, or add berries for a fun spin to the drink.
