With the infamous and unique royal wedding coming up, every TV channel seems to be competing with each other to share and highlight every aspect of the upcoming wedding with all the gory and interesting details of anything and everything about everyone involved in the wedding! Food is going to play a big part on this occasion what with beautiful cakes, biscuits, puddings etc. being some of the dishes on the menu!

Why am I sharing these lovely sandwiches with you:

To be part of this festive mood and feel very “proper and prim” like the British as well as celebrate my 300th post,  I am serving up these dainty sandwiches which will set the scene for a royal feel! Thank you so much everyone for being a part of my exciting journey!  I could not have gotten this far without your support, love and appreciation!

Now, on to the sandwiches:

To, begin with, how about some lovely and fresh dill mayonnaise and cucumber sandwiches?  Sounds divine! Don’t you agree?

Maybe a few green cilantro chutney and tomato sandwiches for the spice lovers out there!

And for the sweet tooth in you, some chocolate hazelnut and banana with peanut butter sandwiches will set the mood and atmosphere!

They are so simple to make and need no cooking! Rustle them up ahead of time and just brew some hot tea or if you prefer coffee and enjoy with your family and friends. Pour up some hot tea, serve up some lovely cookies or “biscuits” as the British call it, and feel royal and very “British”!

What do you need to make these:

All you need is some fresh bread, cucumber, mayonnaise and dill for the savory bites. Blend a spicy cilantro chutney or use your favorite bottled variety to make the tomato sandwiches. Slip in some cheese slices for flavor and it adds protein too! Do not forget to butter the slices or you are going to end up with soggy sandwiches from the chutney and cucumber! Butter acts as a barrier and keeps the bread from getting soggy.

Although, chocolate is not a traditional British thing in sandwiches, I could not resist including my favorite  chocolate spread, hazelnut chocolate spread as a filling with some fresh banana slices!! To add some crunch, nothing like a thin spread of crunchy peanut butter (I am not a big fan of the smooth variety). Mmmm, now that I love! Cut them into different shapes with a sharp knife (remove the crusts), wrap them in plastic and refrigerate until ready to serve!

To complete the tea party menu, make some cookies or biscuits like the very-British Homemade Digestive Biscuits or a lovely, scrumptious make-ahead fruit custard trifle or pudding! I have served these dainty, royal-like finger tea sandwiches with hot adrakwali chai/ginger-spiced tea and some homemade Eggless Peanut Butter cookies.
