This Paneer dish is a semi-dry Sabji made with Paneer, tomatoes, chopped veggies, and spices. Tawa Paneer Masala is best served with Roti or Naan. In fact, it is delicious on its own without any accompaniments and it can be served as an appetizer as well.

About Tawa Paneer Masala

As the name suggests, the entire dish is made on just one tawa. Tawa is a prevalent concave-shaped round pan in India, and there are lots of recipes made entirely on tawa. Some street foods, like Tawa bhaji or Tawa Pulao, made on tawa, are especially trendy. But no worries, if you do not own tawa, that is not a problem at all. Alternatively, you can make this dish using a frying pan or skillet as well. The recipe is pretty easy and highly customizable. It can be made with a choice of vegetables and spices as per the preferences.

How to Make Tawa Paneer Masala:

Basically, this dish contains some chopped veggies, paneer cubes, and spices. It is just a one-pan dish, and the recipe comes together very quickly. There is no need to make any puree or gravy. Instead, I have used chopped tomatoes and cooked them until they are soft, mushy, and almost like thick gravy. Again, this recipe calls for tawa, but if you do not have it, use a frying pan or skillet. After mixing all chopped veggies and spices, it is essential to mash everything with a potato masher or anything similar to that. This way, the mixture will be thick and will coat on paneer cubes. In the end, this sabji will be almost dry to semi-dry. But if you wish to add more liquid to this, add 2-3 tablespoon of milk or cream at the end. I have used pav bhaji masala in this recipe, and that is what I would highly recommend. But use garam masala instead if you prefer that way or if you do not have pav bhaji masala on hand.

This recipe is without onion and garlic and is thus also considered a Jain recipe. But in Jainism, some people do not eat fresh ginger. In that case, you can omit ginger paste. Or use ¼ teaspoon dried ginger powder instead of ginger paste. Tawa Paneer Masala is light but still very satisfying and filling. This no onion, no garlic paneer recipe can be served for lunch, dinner, or even as an appetizer. If you are looking for ideas, what to make for a potluck party, this will create a fantastic dish.
